The Anjuman-i-Himayat-i-Islam was founded in Lahore on September 22, 1884, within the Masjid Bakan at Mochi Gate, under the leadership of Khalifa Qazi Hameed-ud-Din. Initially, this newly established organization mobilized a cadre of religious speakers who ventured into various villages across Punjab to counteract the harmful propaganda propagated by Christian missionaries. Among these committed orators were notable figures such as Molvi Sayyed Ahmed Ali, Munshi Shams-ud-din, Molana Abdul Majid Dehlvi, and Muhammad Mubarak. They exerted considerable influence throughout the province, playing a vital role in defending against missionary efforts while advancing Islamic teachings.
